"Gamer", shot and directed by Morehouse College Sophomore Kodi Van, is a short film created for the world renowned Campus Movie Fest. Also known as CMF, this enormous film festival has enabled over 250,000 students to create sort films and watch them on the "big screen". Participants produce thousands of short movies during the innovative, multi-week events. The organization provides technology, training, and local music. Created by four students of Atlanta's own Emory University, CMF granted Kodi the opportunity to be submerged into a wonderful experience.
This film, shot and produced in the fall of 2011, captures the love story of an antisocial college student and his addiction to technology. Annsleigh Thornton plays the role of the challenging love interest, forcing the main character (Kodi) to step out of his computerized shell and expose himself to real world experiences. Annsleigh not only represents the struggles Kodi faces with the opposite sex, but also Kodi's lack of social and global understanding. When Kodi's computer and game system goes faulty, what will he do to mentally, emotionally, and socially survive?
Check out this clip and see for yourself! And see how the Gamer combats reality.
